Advice from the Obsessively Organized Senior Care Content Professionals
Most of our clients and followers know that we are a fast-growing startup company. A few creative, experienced home care and senior living professionals who love the aging services world and enjoy developing content for it! Like most start-ups, we are developing systems for managing our new business as we go. We get a few new processes in place… then realize there are three more things we know we could do a whole lot better if we just had a system… This month we’ve been developing a process for cataloging all of our content by topic and type. Mental groan right?
Our goal in developing a content library is to make curating easier. But it is like drinking your milk every day – yuck. Or running a few miles after work each night – ugh. Something we do because it is good for us, but fully intend to whine our way through. (Tip: white wine and House of Cards does make it better.)
If you are tackling this project soon, we have a few tips that might help with your senior care content library. Trust me. There are no library science majors in this crowd. We started from ground zero. Trial and error. Review this app. Check out that one. Here are two suggestions that are working well for us.
- Evernote – Have you found this handy little app yet? We use it on our laptops, iPads and iPhones. Check it out. It makes it so much easier to track where your content lives online. And they have a free version that offers great stuff! Really.
- Trello – This is another freebie that we are happy with so far. It lets you set up boards that each have three containers. They are set for “To Do” “Doing” and “Done” but the labels can be changed. You can name each board, attach files, add checklists, vote on things, and more.
Do you know of any tools you would like to share to help make this easier? We’d love to hear from you in the comments section below.
Now I’m off to watch the ruthless Congressman Francis shake down the congressional leadership. And log our April content to Evernote and Trello!
