Are you already feeling the pain of the end of the year time crunch? We definitely are. As the calendar year winds down, we’ve been helping many of our senior care clients and partners perform content audits. It is a fairly comprehensive and—Yes—kind of painful process. But like adding kale and spinach to your perfectly good fruit smoothie, it needs to be done. We thought it might help our assisted living and in-home care partners to get a peek at a few of the elements that go in to conducting a solid senior care content audit. Here are a few recommendations to get you rolling:
- Look at what you are currently doing and how it is working. Is your blog driving traffic? (We know the answer is usually YES!) How often is it updated? Can you find a way to post more without sacrificing quality? Is video a part of your strategy? Do your core pages need a facelift? Are you reviewing your analytics?
- What are your top 5 competitors doing online? The beauty of a well-designed, relevant and fresh website is that small providers can capture a disproportionate amount of web traffic. The big guys don’t have to own results in your markets.
- What are you missing? Look especially hard at this now. Google has made very significant changes in the last half of the year. Take advantage of those changes. Create lengthier articles. Answer questions. Be a resource. Keyword dumping just doesn’t work. Make the senior care customer experience a good one.
Two elements that go hand-in-hand with these are:
- Socially speaking, how friendly are you? You need to be friendlier than ever. Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Google + should be your BFs in 2014.
- Don’t overlook participating on senior care review sites. (We’ll share more updated review information in a few weeks.) Also consider pulling a few lines of some of the positive reviews you have received on sites like Caring.com and SeniorAdvisor.com.
Good luck! Keep us in mind if you need help with social media conversation starters or an extra hand to ghostwrite blog articles. We’d love to be considered!
