Raise your right hand…
C’mon… go ahead. No one is looking!
Now repeat this pledge out loud:
“I (insert your name) pledge to never EVER use the phrase ‘Content is King’ again from this day forward.”
Seriously.
The phrase started out as a way to convey how important quality content is for your senior living and home care content marketing efforts.
Somewhere along the way, however, it was hijacked by content mills and sketchy content agencies claiming to “specialize” in senior living and home care. It created a glut of content that is quite honestly just…Crap.
It misses the whole intent of content marketing – to Connect.
Content should connect with people. Not just fill space on your blog or website.
Here’s what you can do to separate the Crap Content people are peddling from the Quality Content you need.
Give it the Connect Test.
Senior Living and Home Care Content Connect Test
Here’s what you should ask yourself when you review any piece of content your agency is creating for you:
- Does it connect with confused families who are seeking answers after a loved one’s physician has recommended a move to assisted living?
- Does it connect with the overwhelmed and exhausted daughter who knows her dad’s Alzheimer’s is too difficult for her to safely manage at home but doesn’t know where to turn?
- Does it connect with adult children seeking information about a senior’s risk for experiencing a fall?
You see where we are going here…
Good senior care content should Connect. Engage. Answer Questions. Move Seniors and their Families Forward.
It is an opportunity for you to share what you know and begin to build a relationship with your audience. Help them see your senior living community or home care agency as the leader and expert you likely are.
Not just be words thrown together to fill blog posts because you need “content.”

Check your analytics.
I know…I know… They can make your eyes cross just a little, but you need to use them to see what is working and what isn’t.
