And we’re back with another Question of the Week!
You’ve been waiting on the edge of your chair for Thursday to arrive right?
This question comes to us from one of our friends in the Windy City…
“How do you know what to write about on a senior care blog?”
That is a great question and one we labor over extensively!
If you are one of our clients you know we look at analytics, seek input from local community sales teams and executive directors, consider time of year, evergreen topics, seasonal factors, and trending stories. Our process is pretty comprehensive
Each of those matter greatly.
But if I had to suggest topics for someone going it alone and just getting started, I would encourage you to review the questions you receive most often from seniors and their families. If adult children are asking questions offline, they are typing them in to a Google search box online.
For rookie bloggers or for small communities trying to get their blog up and running, I would say grab yourself a big old pot of coffee and a bag or two of kale chips, round up your team and get started:
- Create a big list of the questions everyone receives from families. Remember, there are no “dumb” questions.
- Prioritize them from the most urgent to least.
- If your goal is to publish once a week, choose which four articles you will tackle each month for the next three months. This will serve as your Editorial Calendar.
- Mark it on your calendar to regroup and evaluate your progress in eight weeks.
- Check your analytics to see what worked and what didn’t.
- Review your previous list of questions and use it to create another Editorial Calendar.
- And so on and so on…
While its definitely a simplified version of our process, it is one that will get you up and running in the right direction!
Don’t forget… if you just can’t find the time to fit blogging in to your week, we can help.
