You’ve probably realized by now that we use our favorite leisure activities to better define senior living SEO and content marketing every week right?
This week is no different. Today we’re talking consumer behavior and Google.
Have you ever counted the number of times each day you reach for your phone or tablet to Google something?
At night while you are watching the horror of the 2016 election play out on television, for example. You might jump on your iPad to fact check something outrageous a candidate has said.
Or try to find that rockin’ wine glass Olivia Pope is using to chug her red from. Or the killer professional woman top Elizabeth McCord is sporting as she battles the bad guys in foreign lands.
Whether you realize it or not, you are Googling your way through life every day.
Why?
Because it is so easy to do. We want quick answers to even the smallest questions that come up throughout our day.
So how does this influence senior living SEO and content?
By heaps and bundles.
Senior Living Micro-Moments
Google calls our insatiable need to have quick answers to every little question, micro-moments.
They define a micro-moment as:
“Micro-moments occur when people reflexively turn to a device – increasingly a smartphone – to act on a need to learn something, do something, discover something, watch something or buy something. They are intent-rich moments when decisions are made and preferences shaped.”
Using my Elizabeth McCord example from earlier, one of my searches on any given Sunday night might look like:
- Tea Leoni fashion on Madam Secretary
- Reviews for Derek Lam Long-sleeve Tie Neck Blouse
- More affordable knock off version of Derek Lam Long-sleeve Tie Neck Blouse
You get the idea right?
Senior Living SEO for Micro-Moments
As a senior living SEO content strategist and writer, my job is to think about all the micro-moments that send adult children to their tablet for a quick search.
The early warning signs that might indicate a senior is becoming less safe living alone, for example.
My micro-moments warning signs list might look something like this:
- Why do seniors fall
- How can I keep my mom from falling
- Fall proof senior’s home
- Managing parents finances
- Improving elderly nutrition
- Transportation options for seniors
- In-home help for a parent
- Why don’t seniors admit they’ve been a victim of fraud
We could create quite a long list right?
Understanding Families’ Senior Living Micro-Moments
Once you know what your community’s micro-moments are, you can develop senior living content that answers their questions.
- Blog articles
- An FAQ section
- A resource center
- eBooks and guides
- Other fun and helpful content
You are giving families the answers they need and pulling them in early in their senior living decision journey. Before any of your competitors have a chance to connect with them and before the big referral agencies have time to nab them.
And the great thing is, most of this type of content is evergreen. Investing in quality, well-written content that answers these questions has a long life.
Cool beans right?
Drop us a note if you need help crafting strategic content for your micro-moments or if you want to hash through who is stalking the McCord family before Sunday night’s episode…
