So we received a great question from a client who follows our blog last week.
She asked us, “Do we need to keep writing about the same senior living topics over and over on our blog? And if so, WHY?”
We realized we had never discussed this small, but important, content marketing strategy.
The answer is… a resounding HECK YEAH!
Here’s the scoop…
Writing about the Same Senior Living Topics
Your blog typically has a date associated with it. So if you created a rockstar article back in 2014 on how to assess a senior loved one’s home for falls, your site probably ranked well for the topic. But that was three years ago.
But as the years roll by, Google will start to devalue older article.
In most cases, Google wants to present fresh content so they have greater confidence that what they are presenting in 2017 is current and relevant. If you want to get crazy and learn more about how Google looks at the freshness of content, check out this great article from the fine folks at MOZ.
Then we have to think about topics in terms of where a family is in the senior living decision journey.
If we continue to talk about falls, for example, we know that concern can lead to a variety of searches by an adult child:
- What caused my mom to fall?
- What medications cause dizziness?
- What exercises keep seniors from falling?
- How can I evaluate my dad’s for safety?
- What types of fall alert technology products are available?
- Do senior living communities help prevent falls?
- How can I talk to my mom about moving to senior living?
- How do I start the search for senior living?
So while it might feel like you are writing about the same topic over and over, you probably aren’t.
Bottom line?
Writing fresh content on evergreen senior living topics can help you send a signal to Google that your company is still alive and kicking…
And if you need help creating those topics, shoot us a note. We’ll get you on our Blog Waiting list and let you know as soon as a spot opens up on our calendar…
