Social media can be the bane of our existence…
The latest rounds of Trump-related scandals on Facebook have left most of us wondering and worrying if Facebook really is worth is. At press time, we have no clear answer on that one. We’ve chosen to take a wait-and-see approach.
We have that luxury though because Facebook has never been a driver of leads for us. For clients, however, it has been to some degree. Especially if they boost posts.
But we’ve noticed some glaring mistakes senior living providers are making on their social media channels. One of which is links.
Linking Tips for Senior Living Social Media
Here are a few hot tips we hope you will find useful:
- Don’t link to referral agencies. Seriously. It seems crazy that providers do this but…see exhibit A in the photo above. A few well-placed stars protect the senior living provider’s identity, but this was a screen shot plucked right out of Twitter. Why would you drive visitors to A Place for Mom? Do you have extra cash in your budget to unload?
- Watch what you boost: If you choose to boost a post on Facebook, choose the post wisely. Make it something that drives visitors to a resource on your site that you know offers good value. Don’t boost a post of a photo that doesn’t link back to your site or a funny meme… that’s like opening the window and throwing cash out. Focus on linking to quality senior living content that you own.
- Shares/Retweets/Etc.: It makes all kinds of sense to use social media to build relationships with referral sources and potential partners. Sharing a great article from a hospital you work with is a good example. Just be sure the original source is credible and not #fakenews. When in doubt, don’t share or retweet.
If you are struggling to find your way in social media land, drop us a note. While we don’t offer social media services, we can point you in the direction of a few credible agencies that do. If you need quality senior living content to link to, we can help. Contact us to learn how.
