Creating a list of senior living blog topics that attract seniors and their families is important.
One of the questions we are most often asked is what topics to write about on a senior living blog. For SCCS clients, it’s something we talk about frequently. It all starts with a comprehensive content map that works in conjunction with an editorial calendar.
We are continuously updating and adding to each client’s master content map as new topics pop up or we find a way to create a new twist on an evergreen idea.
That’s why we were excited to see some new research from Ceralytics that focused specifically on health care related topics.
We were most interested in those issues that researchers found were connecting best with online readers.
Health Care Topics for Your Senior Living Blog
The five topics that had the most impact and shares were:
- Heart disease
- Diet
- Tips
- Recipes
- Pain
Other topics that research showed connected well but few folks are writing about include:
- Blood sugar
- Stress
- Sleep
- Vaccines
- High blood pressure
- Drugs
- Stroke
- Chronic pain
- Disease control
- Love
- Quit smoking
- Cancer patients
- Physical activity
- Diabetes
- Depression/anxiety
- Emergency room
- Better health
These are all ideas you can write about and use to link to relevant signature programs, amenities, and services. In a non-salesy kind of way, of course.
Here are a few suggestions:
- How assisted living communities (link to your services page) help prevent repeated trips to the emergency room
- What kinds of physical activity are senior-friendly (link to your life enrichment programs) and the risk of a sedentary lifestyle
- Why you are never to old to benefit from quitting smoking (link to your wellness activities)
- What type of diet helps you live a longer, healthier life (link to the recipes on your site and/or your signature dining program and menus)
- The role stress plays in developing (or preventing) chronic disease (link to your caregiver resources page)
See how easy that is?
And if <insert big gasp here> you still don’t have a blog on your senior living site, this quick guide will help you get started…
