Today we are once again tackling a topic we started last week. We talked about making sure your senior living content strategy doesn’t overlook families who have placed a deposit or are getting close. If you missed it, you can check it out here…
This week we are moving on to discuss those critical first weeks after a senior moves to an assisted living or memory care community.
We know the settling in process can be difficult for the older adult and for those who love them. It’s important to have articles you can email to families that address the most common struggles in a positive way.
What do we mean by that?
Here are a few ideas for content that can help make the first few weeks after a move to senior living easier on everyone.
Senior Living Content Strategy for After the Move
Think about the suggestions you offer to older adults and their families when the struggle to settle in feels overwhelming.
You probably have a lot of ideas you share offline right?
So do your caregivers, housekeepers, life enrichment team members, transportation staff, and everyone else who is involved with resident care.
That kind of insight is invaluable in creating your content strategy. Be sure to take advantage of it.
Here are a few more ideas you can write about on your blog and social media channels:
- Encourage the family to host a housewarming party and offer tips to make planning easier (i.e. how to reserve the private dining room, talking with the chef about refreshments)
- Make sure the new resident knows it is okay to invite old friends (who might become prospects!) to lunch and dinner
- Host a “block party” in the senior’s new apartment to invite their new neighbors over
- How joining life enrichment programs and activities can provide an opportunity to meet other residents
- Set up a family visitor schedule so residents see a familiar face every day or two for the first few months
- Use an activity like a scavenger hunt to help family members learn their way around the community
- Have the grandkids help the senior learn to use Skype and FaceTime if they don’t already
Each of these topics can make for great blog articles.
You might also consider combining a few of the topics to create a guide you routinely send out to adult children and families after the move.
Advice and Guidance with Senior Living Content Strategy
Are you struggling to create an editorial calendar for your blog? We get it. The process is time-consuming and challenging.
Our top suggestion is to make sure your calendar is a thoughtful blend of evergreen topics and articles for every stage of the senior living decision journey. When you have a framework, it becomes easier to map the content.
It takes extra effort but it’s the best way to own the search engine results in a very competitive market.
