Once a year-ish we go through the painful fun-filled process of giving our website a facelift…
We update our blog at least once a week and refresh a page or two here and there all year long. We think of it as the Botox between surgical procedures.
But at least once a year, we try to go all in and give our site a facelift.
We procrastinate, whine, stomp our feet, and then finally get down to business.
When it’s done, we always see a bump in traffic and pat ourselves on the back for having endured the process.
If you are asking yourself if your senior living website really needs a facelift, here’s the data you need to prove the answer is YES.
Your Senior Living Website Makes a Statement
Blue Fountain Media conducted some really interesting research on user experience with over 1,000 participants.
Here’s what they found and why you need to take time to update your senior living website before it begins to look stale.
Let’s start with Confidence.
81% of visitors think less of a business if the site looks outdated. For an industry like ours, where trust and confidence are so vital, that’s a staggering number. If you read nothing else on this page, this alone should convince you.
But, of course, there is more and here it is:
- Fresh: 39% of visitors would think twice about using a company if the website isn’t fresh and current. For senior living providers, that’s another key stat. Families are putting their trust in you. They want reassurance that you are staying on top of the latest trends and in touch with the most recent research on aging, Alzheimer’s, caregiving, and everything in between. If you stay on top of your website content, it sends a signal that you are organized and engaged with the latest news and reserch.
- Speed: 58% of respondents said speed was important. Many families start their search on a mobile device. Sometimes from a physician’s office or hospital emergency room. Your site needs to be fast or they’ll find one that is.
- Content: 50% of those surveyed said content is king. Yeah, that seems a little low to us too. It’s likely because content is kind of baked in to the site as a whole?
- Navigation: 43% ranked how easy the website is to navigate as a key factor in user experience. Let’s face it, navigating the maze of senior care options is confusing enough. If your senior living website isn’t user-friendly, visitors aren’t like to stick around.
Are you convinced it’s time to break out the coffee maker and round up your team to take an honest and objective look at your site?
You’re likely missing out on qualified family leads if you don’t.
