Voice searches and senior living. It’s topic we are rarely asked about. But we had a question come our way this week that we thought was a good one to answer here on the SCCS blog.
A client asked us how many words are usually in a voice search (good question!) and if you should write shorter posts to specifically answer those voice queries (great question!!).
Our clients are so smart aren’t they?
So here are the quick answers to both questions, along with a little extra background research on voice searches for senior living questions and answers.
How to Write Senior Living Content for Voice Search
The fine folks at SEMrush conducted some research that is helpful in answering these very questions and others related to voice search.
As you are working to better understand voice search as it relates to answering evergreen senior living questions, this information is great to keep in mind:
- The average word count for a voice search is 41.4 words. Android users tended to use slightly more words than other device users.
- Two in five adults use voice search at least once a day. That number is expected to climb to half of all searches by 2020. (An amazing 118 million homes has a smart speaker of some kind in the home.)
- 80% of all answers provided came from one of the top three spots on the organic search results. Since we know longer articles/posts are preferred by Google, and how you make it to the top of the SERPs, creating posts 40 or 50 words in length does not seem like a great strategy. At least for now.
- Site speed matters. Sites that were chosen by Google for voice search load faster than average. If you still haven’t figured out ways to pump up your site speed, it needs to be a priority .
- Text should be simple and easy to understand. Writing for a high school education is best.
