Why do you need a senior care blog?
We receive this question often from prospective clients. A senior care blog is a marketing tool that many providers find to be too time-intensive and challenging to keep up with over the long haul. They are just too busy to manage it.
While it’s true that a well-written and meaningful blog takes work, it’s also one of the best content marketing efforts you can engage in.
Notice I said “well-written” and “meaningful?”
Yep, because we see a lot of posts out there that providers are trying to pass off as blog articles.
To be clear, posting one sales pitch after another doesn’t a blog make.
In fact, it has just the opposite impact. Visitors see your blog as just self-promotional babble, instead of a place for self-education and finding solutions.
Check out this article if you are worried you might be guilty of that fatal flaw.
Instead, a blog should be a means of sharing your expertise. Educating. Answering questions. Developing rapport.
Benefits of a Senior Living Blog
Taking time to put together and continuously add to a senior living blog helps Google see you as an authority.
It also provides Google with the frequent updates it’s content-hungry crawlers love.
A blog allows your community/communities to stand out in all of the right ways.
You can tell stories that address concerns families have, such as a parent who is isolated and alone too much. Or a spouse with dementia that is a safety concern.
Your blog also positions you as an expert with older adults, families, and referral sources. Instead of driving all over town trying to get a few minutes of their time, a blog brings them to you.
Senior living blogs can be used in email campaigns. Curated in to long-form content or in to guides that make great downloads. Some providers turn them in to news releases that go out to local media.
Are you convinced you need a blog yet?
If not, here are a few more data points that might help you see the light:
- 77% of internet users read blogs on a routine basis
- 97% more links for sites who have a blog
- 434% more indexed pages if your site has a blog (!!)
- 13 times more likely to have a positive ROI if you have a blog on your site
This list could go on and on, but you get the idea right?
Your senior living site needs a blog that is updated often with well-written, relevant blog posts.
