Clients and subscribers to our blog often forward us the emails they receive from people trying to sell them quick, cheap links.
The COVID-19 crisis has made digital marketing more important than ever. For most senior living providers, their website has become the top referral source .
We understand many senior living providers are searching for ways to rank better in a hurry. We get it. Times are tough.
While we all agree that links are important, buying them is never a good idea. In fact, it is a clear violation of Google webmaster guidelines.
Lately, the emails we are seeing seem so legit. They skirt right along the edge of what you might be able to get away with…might being the key phrase here.
Over the past few weeks, we’ve received variations of one email that we felt was worth sharing…

One of our blog followers said they replied and the follow-up email tipped them off that it was fairly shady:
- This guy owned loads of sites. Random ones he probably picked up pretty cheaply.
- For a price, he would link from his sites to your site. Generating incoming links for you.
- The more you were willing to spend, the more sites links he would provide from his arsenal of sites.
Literally his whole business model was selling links. Nothing more.
Great Content Leads to Natural Links
We know everyone wants to discover secret shortcuts for ranking at the top of the SERPs in no time flat.
While there are solid strategies you can and should employ to rank well, they aren’t a quick fix.
Content marketing is a long game. Not a one-hit wonder.
Your site should always be a work in progress. A living resource center to which you are constantly updating and adding content.
Since it looks like the COVID-19 pandemic isn’t going to be resolved any time soon, a better strategy is to learn all you can about content marketing. Then publish quality content on a consistent basis.
From strategy to publishing to promoting, content marketing is more complex than it might appear.
The good news is the content you create will have a long shelf-life. Each time you publish great content, you improve your site’s authority.
