Searching for new ideas for your senior living blog posts?
One way to explore new topics is by using Google’s Autocomplete feature.
It’s a feature within Google Search that makes it faster to complete searches once you start to type.
The system automatically generates predictions that save people time.
And, yes, it is different than Google Trends. (That helps writers and researchers evaluate the popularity of a search topic over time.)
So, how does Google know how to predict what a searcher might be looking for before their query is even complete?
Using Google Autocomplete
According to the folks at Google, their predictions are based on:
- Language of the query as you begin to type it
- The location a search is coming from
- Currently trending interest on a topic
- What they know from a searchers past queries
Because you’ve likely searched for senior living, assisted living, memory care, and other related terms before, you’ll probably have some relevant, new key phrases pop up rather quickly.
For example, our Senior Editor has been racking up some hours working on a guide that explains how care plan meetings operate. She’s conducted a lot of searches around that key phrase.
When we started to type the term care plan on her laptop, we found a few new ideas to write about:
- What is a care plan in assisted living
- Can family members come to care plan meetings in assisted living
- Medicare basic care plan requirements
Depending upon the levels of care you offer, each of these can give you some fresh topics to write about.
Give it a try! Start typing a query for some of your proven search terms and see what else comes up.
As an example… If you want to write about memory care, check your analytics to see what keywords has connected with searchers in the past. Then use those to start your query.
You’ll probably discover related topics and key phrases you haven’t written about before.
