It’s been said that case studies are stories in a suit. We kinda like that description.
Many times we are asked to evaluate a senior living provider’s website for opportunities to improve the content.
The ultimate goals are, obviously, to create a good user experience and to improve the provider’s rank with the search engines.
What we often encounter when a senior living community is struggling to rank well is loads of overly “salesy” pieces and poorly written blog articles.
While we aren’t super excited to see overt sales pitches, we do find blog articles to be valuable.
Discussing aging, caregiving, health, and senior care topics in well-written blog articles can help your website in a variety of ways. More about that another time…
But it’s rare that we see senior living providers tell their resident success stories in meaningful ways on their website. Stories that older adults and their families can related to and connect with during their search.
That’s where developing case studies can enter the chat…
Tell the Story of Senior Living With a Case Study
Many people think case studies are a business tool full of boring facts and figures. For sure, they can be. However, a case study can do much more than that.
Think about the reasons people often explore an assisted living community for themselves or a loved one:
- Poor nutrition and weight loss
- History of falls or near falls
- Difficulty with self-care
- Health issue linked to isolation
- Unsafe home environment
While this is obviously just a quick list, each of these would make great senior living case studies.
Use Resident Success to Create Senior Living Case Studies
Review your list of move-ins from the past year or so…
Ask yourself and your team to reflect back on why each of your residents made this move.
Think about each resident’s struggles at the time they moved in and where they are now.
You’ll likely find some who got stronger and healthier after your dining services team made it easier to eat healthy meals and snacks every day.
Instead of relying on fast food and convenience meals, they are now enjoying well-balanced meals while socializing with new friends.
Speaking of socialization, another story to tell is how full of life senior living communities really are. (Yep, you can bust that myth that residents are bored and spend their days watching television and playing bingo.)
It’s a great conversation to weave in to a case study on isolation and older adults, and the health risks associated with it.
You get the idea, right?
Case studies = stories = showcase for the benefits of moving to an assisted living community
It might not be the easiest content marketing project you’ve tackled, but it will likely be one that yields that best results.
